Weekend Date in Finland – Finnish Salmon Soup

When you come to Finland, ‘Lohikeitto (eng: salmon soup)’ is one of the foods you must try.

A slightly creamy salmon soup made with potatoes or root vegetables, salmon, and dill herbs is one of the essential and delicious foods in Finland, where the cold winter is long and harsh.

It’s also one of my husband and I’s favorite foods lol.

So, we often go to a cafe near the beach to eat this salmon soup for brunch on the weekends.

There are many cafes we go to, but this time we went to here๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป

Many places provide soup (with bread) + coffee/tea together, but here, like another cafe we often go to, coffee/tea is not included. We should purchase separately.

Still, we go often here because we like the clean taste without the fishy taste.

After parking our car, I drew a smiley face on the snow piled on the way.

My husband and I were happy to have salmon soup soon, and giggling like children together.

It’s a little bigger inside, and our favorite spot is here!

The seat right next to this table is also good.

In fact, if you sit here, you are close to the bar, and the view of the beach over the window is quite nice.

Maybe that’s why competition for these seats is always very fierce.

However, for some reason, there were few people on this day, unlike other times.

We felt so good because we thought we could eat leisurely and enjoy our time.

We usually have salmon soup in cafes by putting it in the bowl ourselves.

As always, the amount of my soup is more than my husband’s๐Ÿ‘.

Take a guess which bowl of soup is mine?๐Ÿค”๐Ÿคช

Salmon soup is usually served with dark bread, and the dark bread referred to here is Finnish rye bread. Among them, the bread we ate was Finnish Archipelago Bread called ‘Saaristolaisleipรค’.

A little syrup is added, making it slightly sticky and sweet.

It is a taste that naturally makes you sing after finishing a bowl๐Ÿ˜‹

This is one of the Finnish foods that I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Finland.
